Who We AreThe Simcoe County Food Council is a community-based network committed to enhancing community food access and reducing household food insecurity in Simcoe County. We are made up of community members, food producers, local businesses and organizations who are passionate and invested in ensuring everyone in Simcoe County has access to safe, nutritious, affordable, culturally appropriate food that is physically and financially accessible. The Karma Project is the current Trustee of the Food Council, and the selected candidate will report to its Executive Director throughout the term of this contract.
What We DoWe use the Simcoe County Food Security Framework as a blueprint to help increase awareness, coordination, and development of initiatives designed to enhance food security at the community and household levels across Simcoe County.

Compensation: Salary: $40,000 Term: 12 months, with potential to be renewed Based on an assumed 20-hour workweek
Additional Details:The independent contractor must carry liability insurance. The independent contractor will report to the Trustee of the Simcoe County Food Council. The independent contractor will be responsible for any costs over and above the awarded contract amount, including travel, meals, accommodations, phone, internet, printing, personal devices, etc. The Simcoe County Food Council/the Karma Project reserves all rights to the content of the promotional materials, art, and other productions created within the scope of this contract, including, but not limited to, text, design, pictures, maps, tables, intellectual/technical/artistic rights, etc. The Independent contractor shall not claim any rights to the work provided during and after the completion of the project. The position has flexible work hours, but independent contractors must be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays as part of their working schedule. The position is remote, but may require some travel within Simcoe County. Preference will be given to those located in Simcoe County.
